System Integration Engineer

Netuitive, Inc., a technology company based in Reston, VA, is expanding its engineering organization. To sustain our growth, we are seeking talented individuals to support the integration of our product with third-party system management products. Candidates must be motivated team players with the ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced and dynamic environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a person looking to work in a superior software development organization. The position is a full-time position, based out of our Reston, VA office.  

Responsibilities


This is a very hands-on position that requires strong technical knowledge, experience working with a full spectrum of open source and system management technologies, and setting-up and maintaining testing environments. The candidate will be responsible for the following:

System Integration

• Deploy third-party platforms such as VMware (VI3, VI4), NetIQ AppManager, HP BAC, HP Openview, CA eHealth, CA Wily, NetApp, IBM Tivoli, etc.
• Evaluate the architecture of these platforms to identify integration points.
• Deploy monitoring target applications such as Exchange, Active Directory, DBMS, Weblogic, DB2 UDB, SQL Server, MQ, etc.

Development

• Implement adapters between Netuitive and other applications using our standard java data collection framework and database integration API.
• Work with Professional Services and Core Development teams to further the features and interfaces necessary to do rapid integration development.

Occasionally, the candidate may be asked to assist our sales in the installation and configuration of Netuitive’s products at customer sites. Occasional travel may be required.

Technical Expertise Required

Required Skills:

• Experience troubleshooting performance problems on application servers.
• Working knowledge of networks, operating systems, and app server technologies.
• Proficient with Java 1.5+, SQL, and JDBC drivers
• Familiarity with database design and communication protocols.
• Proficient administering and troubleshooting Windows and UNIX/Linux systems.
• Working knowledge of Spring Framework.
• Experience with agile development practices

Desired Skills:

• Ability to write functional and design descriptions for applications.
• Experience working with tools to collect and analyze performance data.
• Experience integrating with VMware vCenter/ESX/ESXi.
• Experience writing file parser programs.

Personal Qualifications

The candidate is required to have a College degree in a computer-related discipline. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate the following:

• Independent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Hands-on development experience with dedication to quality and customer service.
• Proven effectiveness in small team environments.
• Ability to learn new technologies and software quickly.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience working with pre and post sales teams
